Friends, family and fans remembered Etta James at Greater Bethany Community Church City of Refuge in Gardena, California this past Saturday. The Rev Al Sharpton was on-hand to give the eulogy of James, and celebrities were also there to pay their respects as well.
The Reverend mentioned in the eulogy, “She was able to get us on the same rhythms and humming the same ballads and understanding each others’ melodies way before we could even use the same hotels,” Sharpton proclaimed. He mentioned how the Grammy-winner overcame poverty and drug addiction. He ended with “At last, you can get the gratitude of the savior now. Etta, you made it, you’re going home. At last! At last! At last!”
Christina Aguilera was on hand to perform along with the church choir.
